Please let me know if I have missed any groups or solos on this list.

More information regarding each of the competitions will be published on the web and at the studio in the New Year.

All these competitions run from Thursday to Sundays with as little school class time missed as possible.  Your class has been chosen to enter the competitions but it is your responsibility to get your child to and from the competitions and look after them at the events.  Your teacher will prepare the students for the competitions and help them on and off the stage and to congratulate them when they are done.  We do at least three competitions each year; our goal is to improve our dancing from one competition to the other and to make our recital a great success.  If we win overall marks, trophies and ribbons on the way this is a bonus!

What is expected in a competition and the procedures will be explained to the students in their dance classes.  Exact schedules, with directions to the venues will be posted on our website www.candanceacademy.com as soon as received by our office.  If you have any questions please call (905) 823-7393 or email lori@candanceacademy.com.

This is a great experience for children to work in a team environment and to build confidence.  As always our focus at Can Dance is to have fun.  It is a requirement that competitive students attend all their classes.  Missed classes may result in a dancer not being prepared for the competition and asked to step out.  Please note: to compete in a jazz category you may be required to take ballet, modern or acro and to compete in the lyrical category you must take ballet. Competition requires teamwork; if you are away from class please let us know (phone or e-mail).  If you are just not feeling well or are injured please come and watch the class.

Solos and Duets will be entered in all three of the chosen competitions automatically.  If the routines are not ready it is up to the discretion of the choreographer and dancer.  There are no refunds on any competition fees.

Happy Dancing!

Miss Lori

The Kim Harvey Dance Like a Star Benefit

Dear Contributor,

On behalf of the entire “Kim Team”, especially the Harvey Family and Lori Hall, Director of Can Dance Academy; we would like to thank you for your generous donation to the Kim Harvey Dance Like a Star Benefit. There were 440 people in attendance and the evening was a combination of good food, dance, laughter and friendship.

Your contribution helped make the evening the great success it was. Our endeavors raised $21,000, the majority of which was sent to the Children’s Wish Foundation. The foundation was thrilled to receive these funds to help support their commitment to granting wishes for children. Other funds are sending local children to Camp Tawingo.

The evening was filled with fun and a great sense of spirit and we plan to continue to hold this event again next year.

Thanks again and we look forward to your continued support.

Lori Hall & Debbie Harvey
